North Cascades Engagement
Kori and Sam met up with me in the North Cascades to hike one of their favorite hikes! I FORGOT that the parking lot was so big and loopy at this hike, (with NO service) so I wasn't sure how I would find them! Even though I had their car model and color, there were (as always) literally like 12 black Subaru foresters in the lot. I knew that Sam had red hair though, so as I hiked through the parking lot, whenever I spotted a red-haired man, I would call "Sam!" but not look in their direction at all just in case it wasn't him to see if I could find him. I yelled at three gingers before I finally yelled at the right Sam, but I eventually found him! (I don't recommend this method of finding people unless you don't mind weird looks. So after finally finding them, we headed out!
So Kori and Sam met back in grade school, so they have known each other for basically their whole lives. Kori even had a crush on Sam back in 8th grade! But it wasn't until the end of their senior year that their relationship finally blossomed. (ew, I hate that word. BLOSSOMED.But I'm too lazy to google a synonym. Remind me not to type that word ever again, plz) Anyway, they've been together ever since! And they're the absolute cutest! You can tell that they are best friends, and they are actually both geologists! So clearly they both know how to rock out (cue the eye rolls). One of the reasons that they want to get married on ruby beach is because of the cool rock formations!
Kori and Sam have done this hike every year that they have lived in Washington, and they love it more every time. The marmots and the wild flowers were out for us, and we were able to see some of the most amazing views!! We even saw a few Picas, (my fave animal). I'm even getting pretty good at "meep"ing at the Picas and getting a response from those cute little rabbits. Next time you're hiking in a talus field, try letting out a high-pitched "meep" and see if you can get a pica to "meep" back at you!
I had the best time exploring the north cascades with my two new faves, and I know that their wedding is going to rock even more. (Sorry, more geologist puns)
