Lago Di Braies Engagement Photos Italy Wedding Photographer
I met up with Brigitte and Patrik at the famous Lago Di Braies up in Northern Italy. The Lake Braies, or Pragser Wildsee, is a lake in the Prags Dolomites in South Tyrol, Italy. It belongs to the municipality of Prags which is located in the Prags valley. It became instagram famous a few years ago and now people flock to the lake by the thousands just to take an insta-worthy photo at the foot of the mountains. We made sure to get there early at 7 am to beat the crowds. even in the winter, its supposed to be pretty popular. Its super gorgeous even without the green water that the lake is known for, and the ice was thick enough for us to walk all across the lake and horse-drawn carriages were even pulled across the lake.
We began shooting before the sun came up, but soon it was up and was heating up the lake. The ice on the top of the lake became sloppy and it began to make me nervous as I have watched "Balto" one too many times. I wasn't about to go crashing through the ice on the lake into the frigid water. I know I didn't need to worry as the locals said that the ice was well over two feet deep, but stilllllll. Guys, ice is scary!! I've seen too many movies lol.
When we began shooting, I was basically just swooning over how cute these guys were and how amazing our mountain backdrop was. The peaks were so jagged and gorgeous and we kept taking breaks to check out our view and point out what we could see in the distance. Once a dogsled came flying by with a pack of yipping huskies pulling it! (total balto vibes! I wanted to ride in the sled so badly! But not on the ice haha) There were so many mountain peaks all around us and the lake and the view seriously couldn't be beat.
When we finally finished, the sun had fully come out, and the lake was seriously warming up. I kept stepping in puddles when I was shooting and freaking out that a hole in the ice had formed (not possible) and I had stepped into it. Haha so I was a little glad to get off of the lake and let me blood pressure lower to its normal mildly stressed level.
