Jake and Dannelle have been together for TWELVE FREAKING YEARS!! They’re seriously the cutest, and I can’t believe that they have been together since they were 17 years old! We hung out at Wicks Lake out in the wilds of Gig Harbor. It was a perfect summer day, and it was so nice to not be dripping sweat for an entire session! It’s been in the 90’s all week here, so it’s been pretty brutal to be shooting in that! Water sessions are seriously the way to go for summer engagement sessions, and it is such a fun alternative to normal sessions! Jake and Dannelle brought our friend “Ferdinand”, a very large, inflatable swan. We looked straight out of a Taylor swift Fourth of July party, carrying that swan through the woods. We made it to the lake, and finally set Ferdinand free into the water. He loved it. He had a great time.
Jake and Dannelle have known each other for 13 years, which is basically half of their lives. So these guys met twelve years ago and how they met is pretty funny. So Their younger sisters worked together and became best friends, annnnnnnd like best friends do, they wanted to set up their older siblings. Jake and Dannelle of course were resistant to this idea and refused to meet. After a while though, they did end up meeting, and, to their chagrin, they ended up hitting it off. They hit it off REAL WELL in fact, and Jake proposed four months later!! They both say that they “just knew”. They got married three months after that too!
So when jake proposed, he knew he wanted to take her somewhere special. He had a ring, and he wanted to take her on an adventure. He decided to take her on a hike up to the mountains. Unfortunately, that day It was raining, and he was annoyed at the rain because he wanted it to be perfect. But he finally found the perfect spot, and got on one knee and asked her to marry him. And they’ve been together ever since!! Twelve years of marriage is no easy feat, but jake and Dannelle are best friends, and make sure to put their relationship above everything else to make it work.
I had so much fun with these guys in the lake with Ferdinand, and it was the best to get to live out my taylor swift swan dreams.
